Petco Grooming Coupons (September 2026): Free Groom, Premier & Happy Hour

The shortest honest answer: Petco’s coupons don’t work on grooming. The fine print on Petco’s own coupon offers excludes grooming, self-wash and training, and we found no first-groom discount in September 2026. Everything that does lower a Petco grooming bill comes from its loyalty program, its packages, or your particular store.

How does the free 8th groom work now?

It used to be a coupon. Under Petco Perks terms updated on 22 June 2026, it’s paid in points: after seven qualifying full-service grooms, you get points equal to the average value of those seven. So the reward tracks what you actually spend. A small dog on $46 haircuts earns less than a doodle on $97 ones, and it counts for dogs and cats.

Perks itself is free. Points are earned at 10 per dollar, and 15,000 points are worth $15, so everyday earning is about 1% back. (One older Petco page still describes the value differently, at 167 points for $5. The 2026 terms are the ones we’d go by.)

Is Perks Premier worth it for grooming?

Premier costs $24.99 a month for dogs and cats, and for dogs it takes 20% off every full-service groom or bath. Cat plans get 20% off litter instead, not grooming.

The grooming arithmetic is simple. At 20% off, you need about $125 of dog grooming a month before the discount covers the fee. That’s two medium-dog haircuts at $57 each, plus a little. Few dogs are groomed that often.

Grooming isn’t the whole membership, though. Premier also pays monthly Petco Cash, and annual members get $15 of it each month, which covers most of the fee if you’d shop at Petco anyway. So the answer depends on your food and supply spending, not your grooming.

What is Petco grooming happy hour?

This is the one we couldn’t pin down nationally, and it’s worth being straight about that. Happy hour is a store-level promotion, and Petco has no national page for it. What we found:

• one store’s Facebook page advertising Wednesdays in May, 4 to 5 p.m., $5 off one service or a “Pick 3” mini bundle
• a customer report from around January 2026 of $5 off each walk-in service from 2 to 6 p.m. daily
• a mall listing for weekday happy hours, 2 to 6 p.m., that ended on 29 August 2026

Whether your store runs one, on which days, and for how much, only the salon can tell you. It’s worth the phone call if you’re booking a nail trim anyway; PetSmart’s walk-in nail prices are in PetSmart nail trim price if you want a comparison.

Do Petco coupon codes work on grooming?

No. Petco’s online coupon fine print, as shown on RetailMeNot, says codes are “not valid on grooming, self-wash, training”. Some coupon sites list a string of “Petco grooming codes” with no visible code text and a far-off expiry date. We wouldn’t rely on any of them.

Which chain has the better grooming deals?

It depends on how often you groom. For a first visit, PetSmart’s $20-off New Customer Special has no Petco equivalent. For a dog groomed about every five weeks, PetSmart’s buy-9-get-3 package takes 25% off every groom, which beats Petco’s 20% Premier discount and needs no monthly fee. On a six-to-eight-week schedule the fair comparison is PetSmart’s buy-5-get-1, at 17% off. Petco’s free 8th groom works out to about one groom in eight.
