FAQ

How much does PetSmart charge for boarding per night?
PetSmart does not publish a nightly rate; its PetsHotel page says prices vary by location. A June 2026 Dogster review reports $15–$41 a night per pet for an overnight stay, and one customer in Cerritos, California reported $35 a day in late 2025. Check your store’s rate when you book.
What is included in a PetsHotel stay?
Dogs get group or individual playtime every day, including Day Camp play. Cats get two individual TLC sessions a day. Bedding, bowls and cat litter are included, and your own food is fed at no charge. You can bring up to two personal items.
Does PetSmart charge for late pickup?
Yes, it can. PetSmart’s services agreement sets check-out at noon and says a later pickup may result in additional charges. Charges start on the day of arrival.
What vaccines does PetSmart require for boarding?
Dogs need DHPP, Bordetella (within 12 months) and rabies; cats need FVRCP and rabies. Vaccines must be given at least 24 hours before arrival, and PetSmart prefers 10–14 days. Pets must be at least 4 months old.
How much is Doggie Day Camp at PetSmart?
PetSmart does not publish a day rate and asks you to call your store. Its Play & Save passes give one free day for every five bought, and third-party guides report full days around $25–$37.
Can I cancel a PetSmart boarding reservation?
PetSmart’s services agreement says a cancellation fee may apply if you cancel less than two days before arrival.

PetSmart’s PetsHotel is one of the hardest kennels to price before you book.

How much does PetSmart boarding cost per night?

The most recent independent figures:

SourceReported priceDate
Dogster review$15–$41 a night per pet, overnight stayJune 2026
Hepper review$15–$41 a nightJanuary 2026
Customer report, Cerritos CA$35 a day per dogDecember 2025

We found no 2026 customer report that gives a PetSmart price by room type. A $65-a-night figure that circulates from the same Reddit thread as the Cerritos report is for a VCA kennel, not PetSmart.

There are three room types: the Standard Guest Room, the Private Suite for dogs, and the Kitty Cottage for cats. Suites cost more than standard rooms, and rates are per pet.

Use the calculator with the rate your store quotes. $35 is filled in as an example from the customer report above.

Add-on prices from PetSmart's training and services offers pages, checked 11 September 2026. The nightly rate is yours to enter — PetSmart does not publish one. The 10% discount applies to the overnight stay only, not add-ons.

What’s included in the nightly rate?

According to PetSmart, dogs get group or individual playtime every day (Day Camp play is now part of the stay), and cats get two individual TLC sessions a day. Bedding and bowls are included, plus litter for cats, and you can bring up to two personal items, such as a toy or blanket.

Your own food is fed at no charge. If you use PetSmart’s food or need medication given, there’s an additional fee, and PetSmart doesn’t publish the amount.

How much are PetsHotel add-ons?

Add-onPrice
Training Camp: 30-minute one-on-one training, 1 session$45
Training Camp, 4 sessions$149
Training Camp, 8 sessions$239
Quick Wash bath (walk-in, select stores)$29.95
Bedtime Bliss, Snack KONG, Active Pup, chews; Platinum/Gold/Silver bundlesNot published

Training Camp is the only add-on with a published price (PetSmart’s regular classes are on our PetSmart training prices page). A bath before pickup is a popular extra, and the walk-in Quick Wash is the cheapest published option; a full groom is priced separately (see PetSmart grooming prices).

What fees catch people out?

The missing rate card from the top of this page does its real damage here. PetSmart’s services agreement says “seasonal rates may apply” and reserves the right to charge more at peak times without notice. With no published base rate, you can’t tell how much of a holiday quote is the seasonal part.

The same agreement holds the rest of the terms that raise a bill:

  • Charges start on the arrival day, and picking up after noon “may result in additional charges”.
  • Cancelling less than two days before arrival may incur a cancellation fee.
  • If staff find fleas or ticks, treatment is at your expense.
  • You pay in full at check-out.

Some PetsHotel locations have no staff on site overnight (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.). If that matters to you, ask your store.

How much is Doggie Day Camp?

Day Camp runs full days (up to 8 hours) and half days (up to 4 hours) at select stores, and PetSmart says to call your store for pricing. A third-party guide updated in July 2026 reports full days at about $25–$37 and half days at $17–$26. The Castleton, Indiana PetsHotel announced new Day Camp prices in February 2026; before the change it charged $26 for Day Camp and $30 for day care.

The discounts are published. A Play & Save Pass gets you 1 free day when you buy 5, 2 free with 10, or 5 free with 20. The 5-pack expires after 6 months and the others after 12; passes need a Treats membership and are non-refundable. Play & Pamper takes 25% off a Day Camp day, plus 15% off a bath or groom booked with it.

Day Camp has its own eligibility rules. Intact males, for example, aren’t accepted.

What vaccines and paperwork does PetSmart require?

For boarding and Day Camp:

  • Dogs: DHPP, Bordetella (within the last 12 months) and rabies. Canine influenza and leptospirosis are recommended.
  • Cats: FVRCP and rabies.
  • Vaccines must be given at least 24 hours before arrival; PetSmart prefers 10–14 days.
  • Pets must be at least 4 months old, and the person dropping off must be 18 or older.

If your dog is missing a shot, a walk-in vaccine clinic is the cheapest fix. See our Petco vaccination prices and Tractor Supply vet clinic prices guides, or the full list of pet service prices.

How can you pay less for PetSmart boarding?

Start with the coupons. In September 2026, PetSmart’s PetsHotel page advertises more than $350 in coupons, through 1 November, for guests who book a standard room or private suite. Seniors 65+, military and first responders also get 10% off the overnight stay (not add-ons or Day Camp).

The rest is avoiding charges. Pick up before noon so you aren’t billed for an extra day. Bring your own food. Skip the bundles unless your dog will use them, since playtime is already included. And before paying for a suite, price a standard room: for social dogs, a standard room plus a daily play session is often enough.
